The state primary results are in. And former Newton city councilors had a good night.
Former Newton City Councilor Amy Sangiolo defeated financial auditor Alex Jablon for the 11th Middlesex Democratic nomination. Sangiolo won slightly more than 83% of the vote, and Jablon got just under 17%.
Sangiolo will face off against republican Vladislav Yanovsky in the November general election.
In the 12th Middlesex, former Newton City Councilor Greg Schwartz won the primary with 39.9% of the vote. In second place was Bill Humphrey with about 30.5% followed by Rick Lipof with 29.6%.
There were no Republicans running for that seat, so the 12th Middlesex primary was essentially the general election for that seat.
