Photos: Newton Fire Department Pancake Breakfast

Apparently, Newton really loves pancakes (and who can blame them?).

The city held a Pancake Breakfast at the Newton Fire Department Headquarters on Centre Street, and it didn’t take long for families to arrive and lines to stretch all the way down the side entrance driveway. The Sunday event was part of Newton’s yearlong celebration of its 150th anniversary of becoming a city.

Firefighters griddled up the pancakes (thousands of them), and City Council members dished them out to guests.

A special hit among the kids was City Councilor David Micley dressed as a Paw Patrol character.

Organizers estimated that more than a thousand people showed up to enjoy breakfast with neighbors, play on fire trucks and try out a fire hose.

Volunteers from Newton Community Pride and other local organizations helped out at the event, making feeding such an army look almost easy.
