Newtonian wins GBH fellowship grant

GBH has awarded fellowships to eight producers, including Newton’s Alexi Cohan, who received the Henry Becton Jr. Fellowship, named after GBH’s former president.

Recipients can use the grants to explore future professional development opportunities.

“These eight producers have demonstrated a dedication to creating exceptional content. From promoting STEM learning in early childhood to covering overseas conflicts, each fellow has set a high standard for creativity and innovation,” said GBH President and CEO Susan Goldberg. “We are proud to celebrate the work of our 2024 – 2025 fellows and look forward to their continued growth and success.”

The Becton Fellowship recognizes GBH producers and content creators whose work reflects commitment to public service.

Cohan is a digital producer at GBH News. She’s the lead producer on the GBH series “Politics IRL,” and she manages the GBH News YouTube channel. Cohan graduated from Hofstra University in 2018, where she majored in journalism and Spanish.

PMC honors Newtonian as ‘Living Proof’

Eman Ansari of Newton recently rode in the Pan Mass Challenge and was honored last month as a member of the PMC Living Proof community. She got to ride around the warning track while being cheered on by Red Sox Nation.

PMC has raised tens of millions of dollars toward its $75 million goal for this year for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the organization recently surpassed $1 billion raised since its founding in 1980.

The ceremony honored 40 members of the PMC Living Proof community, PMC riders and volunteers who are currently undergoing or have undergone treatment for cancer.
