Five things to do in Newton this weekend

Another hot weekend awaits, after the feel of fall this week.

Newton has a bunch of events and activities to keep you and your family entertained in any weather. There are a couple of concerts, a farmers market, a movie and more.

Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.

Friday, Aug. 23

From 6 to 10 p.m., the Hyde Center will host an outdoor concert by The Gringo Kings, followed by a showing of the movie “Inside Out.” The Gringo Kings is a band inspired by Cuban Salsa music and has evolved into a mix of swing, jazz and Latin rhythm.

Saturday, Aug. 24

From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the city will have its Saturday Farmers Market at Newton North High School.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., CareOne at Newton will host a Community Fun Day at 2101 Washington St. in Auburndale. The event will feature lawn games, a water slide, face-painting and more.

At 7 p.m., the Hyde Center will host another concert, by the Into the Light Ensemble, at the Brigham House in Newton Highlands. Into the Light Ensemble will perform eight new works composed for soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, bass, flute, cello and piano.

Sunday, Aug. 25

At 5 p.m., Moldova will have Live Blues performances throughout the evening.
