Lunch Pop-ups return to Allen Center this month

Wednesdays are about to be poppin’ in West Newton.

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, and Wednesday, Aug. 28, ALL Over Newton will host pop-up lunches with local eateries, small businesses and live entertainment at the Nathaniel Allen House, in West Newton and the public is invited.

“I can’t think of a better place to be on an August afternoon in Newton,” Lauren Berman of ALL Over Newton, coordinator of the pop-up events, said. “It’s the perfect spot for families, friends, and co-workers to grab lunch, shop from a local small business, connect, listen to music, and just kick back and have fun.”

Each pop-up has a theme:

On Aug. 21, the pop-up will showcase women-owned Newton businesses, and lunch will be offered by Hungry Ninja and NaisLee Catering, both new to the city’s business community. Local shops will be there selling women’s clothing, bouquets of flowers, home accents and more.

The August 28 pop-up will celebrate families with a Kid Krawl scavenger hunt, Kidcasso craft station, My Gym fitness activities and lunch from Ninebark, a new restaurant in West Newton.

”We’re excited about the summer pop-up series returning to the Allen Center,” said Adrienne Hartzell Knudsen, managing director of the Allen Center and Newton Cultural Alliance. “We
envisioned the Center as a meeting spot for drawing the community together and these pop-ups
do just that.”

Each pop-up will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. under a big tent on the Allen House patio. You can find the schedule for each week, including lunch menus and ordering instructions, here.

Lunch-goers are asked to order their meals in advance, helping restaurants gauge demand. Pop-ups will be held rain or shine and moved indoors during inclement weather. The Allen Center is located at 35 Webster Street in West Newton. Parking is available in the lot at the corner of Webster and Cherry Streets. Questions? Email lauren@allovernewton.com.
